Below are links to articles, guides, and so on that may interest you even though some of them have become dated. In most cases, even old news about games on the Web is good news.

How Board Games Save You Money

Here are my thoughts on why board games are a good investment. See if you agree. more…

CNET’s Best iPad Games

There are games you’d expect, such as Angry Birds, in this list, but they also like Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, and Ticket to Ride!

Throw in Monopoly and Scrabble for old-timey board game fun too. Add a shooter game or two. Then mix in some new video games that just look cool and sound interesting and fun based on the single screenshot and brief description.

Put it all together and you get a nifty list of 30 games for iPad that almost make me wish I had the gadget.

Ticket to Ride Tops This List

Here’s Jim Squires’ list of the top digital board games and card games for 2011 that could exist in the physical world.

5) Kard Combat
4) Quarrel Deluxe
3) Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer
2) Shadow Era
1) Ticket to Ride

Most are available for both iPhone and iPad.

I’ve only played Ticket to Ride and then only in the physical world, but I like his choice.

Ravensburger Adds to Facebook Again

Ravensburger, known mostly for board games and jigsaw puzzles, has added a second title (not sure what their first one was) to Facebook. It’s a jigsaw puzzle game called Puzzle Adventures.

As you might expect, you get to assemble increasingly difficult jigsaws. You also get to use power-ups to help you solve them.

Also, as expected, you can purchase additional game coins to make play easier.

And, since this is on FB, you can compare scores with Friends.

If this all sounds very familiar and ordinary, it should. So why would you want to play this game? Probably for the same reasons you play any other game – the fun and the challenge. If you like to piece together jigsaw puzzles, so much the better.

The Best Board Game Geek Gift Guide: This Is How We Roll!

The good folks over at Wizard World have compiled a robust list of board games for you to use as a (Christmas) gift guide. I wouldn’t say that all of them are the best games available, but the vast majority are very good.

The list includes party games, co-operative games, deck building card games, space themed games, and more.

Check out these titles.

What Your Favorite Board Game Says About You

None of my favorite games is in the list at Slacktory, but this one about Carcassonne comes the closest.

“Carcassone: You put your shirts in the closet in a specific order.”

Check out the list for yourself to see which one fits you the best.

My favorite games are these.
